The Source for Spey Fishing and Spey Casting in Ontario, Canada!

The Maitland River and Saugeen River along Ontario's West Coast offer some of the best swinging water found in Ontario and around the Great Lakes! In these rivers we find a healthy and strong population of native wild steelhead. These fish are very powerful and readily take a swung fly.  When normal water levels prevail the “Skagit” system is the preferred method with a two hander to tackle fish. With the fast flow and depth of the prime holding water  on these rivers a system that can deliver a larger  fly off the end of a 10’-15' sink tip is vital to success.


The best times to pursue steelhead with a spey rod are early April through the end of May in the spring and early October to the end of December in the fall. There is also a year round fishable section on each of these rivers that allows one to swing a fly all winter long pending there is some open water to be found.
