A New Series of Spey Rods from Gloomis!
Gloomis mirrored their NRX two-hand rod designs with the PRO4x salmon and steelhead two-hand fly rods. There's a noticeable reduction in weight, especially in the tip-sections, not only making these rods feel lighter, but increasing the rate of blank recovery for better casting distance and accuracy. Proprietary processes in both blank and rod manufacturing allow us to provide optimum performance in key areas to improve distance, accuracy, line control and mending. They will fish a number of different casting styles depending on the line/size. They have made them more economical by using off-the-shelf componentry, but don't let that fool you... they are all about performance. As beautiful to look at as they are to fish, these are rods any fly fisher would be proud to own. Now there's a new, more affordable two-hand opportunity! Its called the PRO4x!! Available in a 10'6' 5 wt, an 11' 7 wt, an 11'6' 9wt switch rod, and for spey rods they offer a 13' 7/8, a 13' 8/9, a 14' 9/10 and even a 15' 10/11.

Scientific Anglers Skagit Extreme Intermediate Head
Late season, big water, and sulking fish in deep pools......the perfect senario for SA's new intermediate skagit head. This head allows you to keep your tip and therefore your fly down in the current near bottom where it needs to be for the perfect swing in those conditions. They cast with ease like a floating head but you may find you need to do a down stream roll cast after the retrieve just to get it up on the surface before going right into your spey cast. With a full range of heads in 40 grn increments it will be easy to find the one that suits your rod. You can also visit www.scientificanglers.com to see their line/rod recomendation chart and also be sure to check out their full line up of spey lines.
The new NRX 12' 6wt switch rod
One of the latest additions to the Gloomis line up of spey rods, this little sweet heart is a must for those who like swinging small flies on a long leader or running poly tips on a lighter skagit system. That said, this rod will nicely cast a 390 grn scandi head or a 420 grn skagit head. At 12' in length it is more of a short spey rod then an actual switch rod but with its lightness from the NRX technology you could easily cast this rod with one hand or use it as the ultimate nymphing rod. Also, with the 12' length, back bone is not an issue as it will easily handle any Great Lakes steelhead found fighting on the end of it!
