BRING In adapted version
....a new pattern of mine.....has been very successful in the low clear water we have had along Ontario's West Coast. That said though, with the storm coming up the east coast looks like we may have some big water in November, time for the big and ugly flies to come out!

Well, it is this simple.....if you were only going to own one spey rod (as if that would ever happen) for swinging for steelhead it would be the new Gloomis NRX 13' 7/8 !! This rod casts a 480 grn Scandi line and a 520 grn Skagit head and with that they will cover almost any river situation you will find your self in. Extrememly light and crazy powerful.....this rod is the shit!! Check out the entire line of Gloomis NRX spey rods at www.gloomis.com Some rivers (Grand/Saugeen) have been fishing well now for awhile and others, well lets just say the coming weeks forecast of rain has been a long time coming. Even in the low water conditions one can still find swinging water and one just needs to set up accordingly. Long light leaders with smaller weighted flies work well in these conditions. Hopefully before too long we will need our sink tip wallets and those big and ugly flies. I wonder what the rest of the fall will be like, last year December brought the best fishing of the season, I guess we'll have to wait ans wee what Mother N delivers this year! |
